5 year plan

My 5 year plan for Sam!

I am sure I could come up with a long list of very very expensive kit the college could buy if it had all the money in the world. Sadly it does not  so what I have done is created a list that is not expensive but would be very good for anyone doing my course.

Update the Macs OS to get more / new features and stop living in the pass. Look in app store on the Macs - its Free..!

You need to get Final Cut Pro X on the Macs to replace Final Cut Pro 7 because how the industry is going in that direction.  It only makes sense to update to the new software. Final Cut Pro X is more user friendly and I find it's easier to navigate around than Final Cut Pro 7 - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/final-cut-pro/id424389933?mt=12
Plus as it's new it has more cool features.

Optional track pads for the macs £59.00 - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC380Z/A/magic-trackpad

Mac Pros for power!!!! - http://store.apple.com/uk-business/buy-mac/mac-pro
£2,499.00 We should get theses to replace the older Macs we have at the moment or just extras so we have more room / power for editing.

Plus they look really cool

Apple TV for easy streaming your videos to the smart board from your iPhone/Mac £99 - http://store.apple.com/uk-business/buy-appletv/appletv

I have one of these at home at they are so easy to use and cheap. They can also be used for research as you can access films and YouTube.

Magic Mouse's £59.00 - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB829Z/A/apple-magic-mouse
I find they're easier to use. The scrolling on the mouses we have at college are not up to scratch.

Netflix's Shared College account £5.99 a month - https://www.netflix.com/?locale=en-GB
For easy access to different TV Shows / Film / Documentaries for work. RESEARCH..!

Google Chrome for better and faster web browsing + Ad blocker. This will be better option to internet explorer in stead of Safari - https://www.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/chrome/browser/

Steadicam - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/201073423232?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108
Very cheap at only £29.89

For an easy and professional way to get a nice steady shot on the cameras. Again I have one of these and it works well. I used it while making my Music video.

GreenScreen Room - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Green-Screen-chroma-key-10x20ft-3-2-x-6M-Background-Backdrop-Photographic-UK-/230988813456?pt=UK_Photography_Backdrops&hash=item35c8019490
and at only £15.99 a real bargain.

A good green screening for film making and would be a really great facility in the college.
I am sure we could make use of this if the college had one.

Cinema 4D - http://www.maxonshop.com/uk/ps/product/1/code/130900/act/gpage
£600.00  ex VAT £720.00 inc VAT
CINEMA 4D contains a vast range of modelling tools to create any object shape, lighting (including ambient occlusion for realistic shadows) and a wide range of animation tools

TV Licence

Everyone in the UK who watches or records TV programmes at the same as they are shown on TV needs to be covered by a TV licence. This includes TVs, computers, mobile phones, games consoles, digital boxes and DVD/VHS recorders.
The Government sets the level of the licence fee. In January 2007 the licence fee was agreed for a six-year period with the amount being approved each year by Parliament. More recently the Government decided to freeze the licence fee at its 2010 level of £145.50 until the end of the current BBC Charter period in 2016.

In away it goes with out saying that the BBC is a good place to work if wanting to work in the TV world in the UK.

You make an account and upload your CV and look for Available work in the BBC.

Many of my fathers friends work or have worked at the BBC and they have told me that once in, the BBC will train you to do all kinds of great jobs. You can start with a desk job and end up as a Director over time. So in away in does not matter what the job is at the BBC to start with get it and then later apply for jobs advertised internally and work your way to where you want to be .. which in my case would be a TV director (One day)
